Send customers to the correct Google review screen
A Google review QR code stores an HTTPS link that opens a business review flow in Google Search or Maps. It can reduce friction on receipts, table cards, checkout signs, follow-up letters, and packaging when customers already want to share honest feedback. Paste the review link obtained for the specific Business Profile, then verify the business identity shown after scanning before you print anything.
Accepted links are limited to direct Google Search writereview addresses with a place identifier and direct g.page review addresses. Tool Swim preserves the exact HTTPS address rather than inventing a place identifier or accepting a generic map page. That makes the payload transparent in the preview and avoids a server-side lookup. The link and QR image are produced locally; no review request is registered or tracked by this generator.
Obtain and verify the source link
Use the review-sharing option available to an authorized manager of the Business Profile or a verified Google listing. Do not copy a browser address while viewing an unrelated search result, and do not assume a short link belongs to the right branch. Multi-location organizations should create and label a separate code for each profile so feedback reaches the place the customer actually visited.
Open the link in a private browser window and on a phone that is not signed into the manager account. Confirm the displayed business name, address, category, and map position. A link that looks valid can still lead to a similarly named company, an old location, or a generic search page. Preserve the verified link in your campaign records.
Ask for feedback without manipulating it
Place neutral copy beside the code, such as “Share your experience on Google.” Do not ask only satisfied customers, offer rewards for positive ratings, prefill a rating, pressure staff to watch the customer submit, or discourage critical feedback. Review gating can mislead readers and may violate platform rules. A useful request makes participation optional and welcomes an honest account.
Provide a separate direct support path for urgent problems, refunds, safety issues, and accessibility needs. A public review is not a service ticket. Teams should respond professionally without exposing customer details, and patterns in feedback should feed operational improvement rather than attempts to identify or silence reviewers.
Understand privacy and third-party handoff
The review URL is rendered into the QR code in the browser and is not uploaded to Tool Swim for generation. Once scanned, the visitor leaves this site and Google controls sign-in, review submission, and data handling. The QR itself does not make a review anonymous. Explain the destination clearly so customers can make an informed choice before opening it.
Do not append customer names, order numbers, email addresses, or other personal identifiers to the link. Avoid unique per-customer codes unless a documented privacy purpose and appropriate notice justify them. A common static link is usually sufficient. Anyone who obtains the image can reuse it, so the surrounding placement—not the QR payload—must provide legitimate business context.
Prepare artwork that survives the counter
Review codes often sit on small cards near reflective counters or restaurant tables. Use a dark foreground, light solid background, four-module margin, and enough size to scan without lifting the card. Avoid glossy lamination, low-contrast brand colors, decorative module shapes, and photos behind the code. The contrast advisory catches weak color pairs but cannot model grease, scratches, glare, or poor lighting.
SVG gives printers the cleanest scalable source. PNG works in office templates when exported at high resolution. Include the business name and destination text beside the code, and avoid making the QR the only way to provide feedback. A short, memorable review link or ordinary search instruction can serve as a fallback.
Test the live review journey over time
Scan a final-size proof on iOS and Android, with and without a signed-in Google account. Confirm the correct profile opens, the review composer is available, and the browser does not stop at an alarming redirect. Test over cellular service at the physical location; guest Wi-Fi portals and weak reception can change the experience.
Recheck codes after a move, profile merge, rebrand, ownership change, or edits to the Business Profile. Short links and platform flows can evolve even though the printed QR stays the same. Date the campaign artwork, keep the verified destination on record, and replace material promptly when the link no longer presents the intended business. Monitor for physical sticker tampering as part of routine site checks.
