Resolve a URL reference against an explicit base

Apply the standard base-URL algorithm to one reference and show whether the base affected it.

Resolve reference

URL text stays in this tab. Nothing is opened or checked online.

Tool Swim does not upload, fetch, save, log, or create presets from these values.

Resolved URL proof

Results are inert text or JSON with the applied interpretation visible.

What this tool proves

Explicit URL interpretation

A reference can be a relative path, root path, query, fragment, network-path reference, empty string, or full absolute URL.

Resolution changes text without loading a resource

A reference can be a relative path, root path, query, fragment, network-path reference, empty string, or full absolute URL.

The report returns the serialized base, original reference, final result, and whether the reference was already absolute. Opaque bases fail when the reference cannot be resolved.

Private, bounded URL processing

The operation runs only after you choose it. Input stays in the current browser tab: Tool Swim does not fetch a destination, resolve DNS, test reachability, upload content, save an account preset, or invoke the developer API.

URLs are capped at 8 KiB, query text at 256 KiB, component text at 64 KiB, query lists at 2,000 pairs, each query name or value at 8 KiB, and serialized output at 1 MiB.
