Text that looks like one string can contain several code points, combining marks, joiners, or control characters. The report keeps character, code-point, code-unit, and byte views separate.
Broad category and default-ignorable decisions come from pinned Unicode 17 tables. Familiar invisible controls receive names; unlabelled characters remain visible as data instead of guessed names.
